GummySearch alternatives now that it is closing
What happened
GummySearch’s founder announced in late 2025 that talks with Reddit for a commercial Data API licence had failed. New signups and payments closed on 30 November 2025; the service and its stored data end around 1 December 2026. The announcement is on gummysearch.com/closing-time.
If you still have an account: export your saved audiences and keyword lists before 1 December. They do not come back.
What it did, and cost
GummySearch was a research tool for Reddit only. You built an “audience” of subreddits, then searched and tracked it for questions, complaints, product requests and the like. Its last public prices were Free (50 searches), Starter $29, Pro $59 and Mega $199 per month (gummysearch.com/pricing, read 27 Oct 2026).
Grumbl vs GummySearch
Same job, different shape. The honest comparison:
- Sources. GummySearch read Reddit. Grumbl reads Reddit plus App Store and Google Play reviews, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram comments, so a complaint that shows up in three places counts for more than one that shows up once.
- Output. GummySearch gave you search results you read yourself. Grumbl groups the complaints by problem and ranks the groups, and each one opens into the quotes with links. You read less; you also see less raw material.
- Price. GummySearch was a monthly subscription. Grumbl is credits: a quick scan of about 500 posts costs 5 credits, new accounts get 10, and nothing renews.
- What Grumbl does not replace. Saved audiences you browse by hand, keyword alerts that email you when a thread appears, and reply-to-thread workflows. If those were the point for you, Subreddit Signals, Syften or F5Bot below are closer.
- Reddit risk. GummySearch closed because of Reddit’s API policy. Every tool that reads Reddit lives with that. Grumbl spreads a scan across six sources but does not promise permanent Reddit coverage; see section 2 of the terms.
